Buntes Wohnen

The Inklusionswohnen am Südbahnhof project focuses on creating an intuitive and accessible wayfinding system for a residential building with 42 units in Heilbronn. With multiple entrances and staircases, the goal was to design a visual system that enables easy navigation for residents, visitors, postal services, and emergency responders. Accessibility, clarity, and inclusivity were at the heart of the design solution.

Process

The project involved several presentation rounds with the client to refine visual direction, functionality, and material choices. I worked closely with signage and production specialists to evaluate different installation methods — from simple adhesive applications to more durable acrylic glass solutions mounted onto the walls. Every decision considered readability, accessibility, contrast, and long-term durability to ensure the system supports users of all abilities.

Result

The final wayfinding system provides a clear, intuitive navigation experience throughout the entire building. Consistent typography, defined color zones, and strategic placement make orientation effortless. Residents and visitors move confidently through the space, and services such as postal workers and paramedics can now locate units quickly and without confusion. The system enhances both accessibility and the overall user experience.
