Calendar

The ForstBW Perpetual Forest Calendar was created for the Ministry of Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection in Baden-Württemberg.The goal was to design a year-round educational calendar for forest pedagogy programs a piece that could be displayed in classrooms across the region and help children learn what happens in the forest throughout the year.Unlike traditional calendars, this one is everlasting: it can be reused each year, making it both sustainable and timeless.

Creative Direction

Each month features 15–20 handcrafted illustrations showing seasonal forest life from January to December. Children encounter friendly, approachable illustrations of animals, plants, and forestry activities — intentionally designed to feel warm and non-intimidating. Every page hints at activities children can explore in nature: collecting chestnuts, observing animal tracks, discovering hazelnuts, or simply learning about forest wildlife. The illustrations were built step by step — first as clean contour drawings, then developed into full-color educational artwork.

Recognition & Impact

The calendar has been widely used in forest education programs and is now hanging in many schools across Baden-Württemberg. Its thoughtful concept and illustrative quality earned the Gregor Young Talent Award 2019 in Stuttgart, recognizing outstanding work in print and educational design.
